John C. Cregan, 69, of Effort, passed away on Tuesday, December 5th in Franklin General Long Island Jewish Hospital, NY.

He was the husband of Kathleen M. (Fehling) Cregan. They celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on November 23rd.

Born in Valley Stream, NY, he was the son of the late Michael Cregan and the late Edith (Bostick) Cregan.

John worked as a car repairman for the Long Island Railroad for twenty seven years.

He was a loving father, grandfather and the most wonderful husband.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Carr and husband Michael of Kunkletown, Lorraine Pena of Effort; a son, James Cregan and wife Katy of East Meadow, NY; a sister, Susan Horowitz and husband Ira; three sisters-in-law, Florence Intrabartola and husband Steve, Regina Alongi and husband Frank, Lorraine Fehling; a niece, Kyra Miles; and eight grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday Dec. 10 at 8:00 PM from the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209 Brodheadsville with Rev. David Felker officiating. A viewing will be held on Sunday, Dec. 10 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM until the time of the service.
