Jose Antonio "Joe" Betancourt III, 45, of Gilbert, passed away on Friday, July 21 in his home.

Born in Boonton, NJ, he was the son of Jose A. Betancourt II of Florida and the late Deborah L. (Hirth) Mooney.

He was always a hardworking man, helping out wherever, whenever, and whoever he could. Joe was a man who had a great way of spreading laughter though his fun loving personality. He was blessed with many who love him and will be dearly missed. In God's hands, may he rest in peace.

Along with his father, he is survived by a son, Ethan J. Betancourt and fiancé Damaris Mazon of Florida; two daughters, Alicia Mathews and husband Corey of Stroudsburg, Sophia Betancourt of Gilbert; three brothers, Stephen Betancourt and fiancé Katie of Glen Gardner, NJ, Master SGT Timothy Mooney of Jacksonville, NC, Patrick Mooney Jr. of Marshalls Creek; three grandchildren, Sophia Sandt, Elena Rose Betancourt, Araceli Grace Betancourt; and many aunts, nephews, and cousins. Along with his mother, he was preceded in death by PJ Mooney, who was like a father to him.

A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, July 27 at 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM from the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209 Brodheadsville.
