Lubbertus H.  Lok Jr.
Lubbertus H. Lok Jr., 95, of Effort, passed away Thursday, July 12 in Celtic Hospice and Home Health, Wilkes-Barre.

He was the loving husband of the late Grace (Kaiser) Lok. They were married on July 6, 2005. He was also the husband the late Cathy E. (Hennesy) Lok. They were married on August 18, 1945.

Born in Jersey City, he was the son of the late Lubbertus H. Lok Sr., and the late Johanna (Mulder) Lok.

Lubbertus was the owner/operator of North Shore Collision in Flushing, NY for over twenty years. He later worked as an adjuster for Allstate in Baldwin, NY for fifteen years.

He graduated from Henry Snyder High School in Jersey City, NJ. He was a former member of the West End Wings. He was one of the original former members of the Elmont Volunteer Fire Department Engine #4 for twenty nine years. He also had a passion for coaching in little league baseball as well as youth football, where he was a long time coach for the Valley Stream Green Hornets.

He was World War II Army Air Force Staff Sergeant Crew Chief on a P 47 Fighter. He was a member of the 365th Fighter Squadron, 358th Fighter Group. The 358th Fighter Group was awarded three distinguished unit citations for participation in Air Offensive Europe, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe. The three distinguished units were the most given to any squadron during World War II. Personally, he received the Bronze Star with two Oak Leaf Clusters for meritorious combat service. He also had been named a "Chevalier" of the Legion of Honor, as a sign of France's gratitude for his personal contribution to the liberation of their country during World War II.

He is survived by two sons, Jeffery P. Lok and Fiancée Susan A. Horton of Oswego, NY, Bert H. Lok and wife Corinne of Farmingdale, NY; three grandchildren, Lauren A. Lok of Oswego, NY, Megan Holton and husband Shawn of Wallkill, NY, and Dr. Ryan Lok and wife Erin of Madison, WI. In addition to his parents and his two wives, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Jane Weir and husband Harry, and Joanna Ryan.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 16 at 1:00 PM from the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209, Brodheadsville with Rev. Michael Quinnan officiating. Burial will follow in Buena Vista Cemetery, Brodheadsville. The American Legion Post 927, Gilbert, will be conducting military honors at the cemetery. A viewing will be held on Monday, July 16 at 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
