Obituary for John B. Halladay

John B. Halladay, 68, of Saylorsburg, passed away on Friday, June 22 in Pleasant Valley Manor in Snydersville.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was a son of the late Cecil and Mary (Benigno) Halladay.

John was a self-employed auto mechanic for forty years. He was also a writer and loved to share stories of his life.

He was an Army veteran of the Viet Nam War, receiving two Purple Hearts, the Bronze Star and the Viet Nam Cross of Gallantry.

John enjoyed gardening and raising flowers. He loved animals and enjoyed feeding the birds on his property.

He is survived by a daughter, Gina Marie Tomes of Winnipeg, Canada; a sister, Ruth Ann Ferraro and her husband Nick of Staten Island, NY; a brother, George Halladay and his wife Kathy of Newfoundland; his ex-wife, Marie Halladay; his "special girls", Kathleen Mitchell, Rebecca Mitchell and Lindsey Mitchell and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 30 from the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209 Brodheadsville, PA with Rev. David Felker officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in Buena Vista Cemetery, Brodheadsville. A viewing will be held on Saturday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
