Obituary for Martin Motts

Martin Motts
Martin R. Motts, 89, of Saylorsburg, passed away Tuesday, May 8 in his home.

He was the loving husband of Jean D. (Stout) Motts. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in February.

Born in Cherry Valley, he was the son of the late Claude Motts and the late Mary (Swink) Motts.

Martin was the former owner and operator of Motts Auto Repair & Radiator. He was a member of the J Simpson Africa Masonic Lodge 628. He was also a member and former President of the McMichaels Hunting Club. He was a Korean War Army Veteran, where he also trained soldiers as an inspection foreman firearms instructor during the Korean War. His family considered Martin as the jack of all trades and nicknamed him as "Mr. Fix It". He was an avid hunter and fisher, and he was a great father and provider to his entire family. He will be deeply missed by all of his friends and family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Martin "Skip" Motts and wife Linda of Smethport; his daughter, Linda Cotto and husband Angel of McMichaels; two grandchildren, Jennifer Cotto and Haley Motts; and many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Motts and his sister-in-law, Madlyn Motts.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 11 at 11:00 AM in Buena Vista Cemetery, Brodheadsville with Rev. David Danneberger officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to McMichaels Hunting Club, 2725 Jackson Road, Stroudsburg, PA 18360 or to VALOR, P.O. Box 315 Brodheadsville, PA 18322.

Kresge Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
