Obituary for Gerald Clark Haydt

Gerald Clark Haydt, 78, of Kunkletown, passed away on Sunday, May 6 in his home after a long illness.

He was the husband of Sally (LaMurry) Haydt, with whom he shared 43 years of marriage.

Born in Kunkletown, he was the son of the late Clark Haydt and the late Glendora (George) Sherer.

Gerald was a truck driver for most of his life. He was a member of the Kunkletown Vol. Fire Co., and a lifetime member of the Towamensing Vol. Fire Co. He was also a member of the St. Matthew's UCC in Kunkletown.

He loved spending time with his family and hanging around in the garage with the guys. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Scott Haydt and companion Shelly of Palmerton; two daughters, Stephanie McCafferty and husband Brian of Roanoke, VA, Sherry Haydt of Kunkletown; four brothers, Ronald Haydt and wife Shirley of Kunkletown, Barry Haydt and wife Maureen of Ambler, Lamont Sherer of Parryville, Rick Sherer and wife Tammy of Kunkletown; a sister, Cheryl Allen and husband Lloyd of Palmerton; and two grandchildren, Travis and Kyra. Along with his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Clark Sherer, his step-mother, Juliane Haydt, and a sister-in-law, Mary Sherer.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 10 at 1:00 PM from the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763, Route 209, Brodheadsville with Rev. Suzanne Brooks-Cope officiating. Burial will follow in St. Matthew's Cemetery, Kunkletown. A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 10 at 11:00 AM until the time of the service.
