Obituary for Howard P Newhard Jr.

Howard P. Newhard Jr., 84, of East Stroudsburg, passed away on Tuesday, March 20 in his home.

He was the husband of Dorothy S. (Morris) Newhard. They celebrated their first wedding anniversary in November. He was also the husband of the late Nancy (Martin) Newhard.

Born in Catasauqua, he was the son of the late Howard P. Newhard Sr. and the late Dorothy (Oswald) Newhard.

Howard was a graduate of Catasauqua High School in 1951. He was a graduate of Yale Culinary Institute of America in 1959. He was a former president of the Culinary Institute of America, and also a former president of The Executive Chefs. He served four years in the US Air Force during the Korean War and attained the rank of Airman First Class.

Howard owned and operated King Arthur's Room in Sciota for 29 years. He was a member of the 628 Masonic Lodge, member of the Tannersville Lions Club, and also belonged to the Tres. Pocono Dance & Social Club in Stroudsburg.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two brothers, Douglas Newhard and Thomas Newhard, both of Catasauqua; five sisters, Dolores Herman of Allentown, Pat Palencar of Bath, Joan Herman of Northampton, Betty Knauss of Catasauqua, Karen Faust of Coplay; a stepson, Michael Carr of East Stroudsburg; a granddaughter, Nancy June Davis of Saylorsburg. Along with his parents and his former wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Davis, a son-in-law Richard Davis, and a sister, Brenda Humanick.

A viewing will be held on Monday, March 26 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM from the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209, Brodheadsville. Cremation will follow in the H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg. Burial of his cremated remains will take place on Wednesday, March 28 at 11:00 AM at Arlington Memorial Park in Whitehall.
