Elizabeth Henning (Schropp)
Elizabeth Ruth (Schropp) Henning, 74, of Blakeslee, passed away on Tuesday, January 23 in Lehigh Valley Hospital- Pocono.
She was the wife of Kenneth Alfred Henning. They celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary in May.
Born in Mahanoy City, she was the daughter of the late James Schropp and the late Sophia (Kosloski) Schropp.
She was a former member of the Christ The King Church in Blakeslee before becoming a member of the St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Lake Harmony.
In her early years, Elizabeth worked as a waitress at Split Rock Resort for eight years. She later helped her husband in his tax office as his secretary for many years.
Elizabeth was a very simple person. She was an avid cook, and loved working outdoors. She enjoyed gardening, where she would maintain a flower garden and later on a vegetable garden. She had a passion for taking care of all sorts of animals and nursed many of them that would venture onto her property. She loved feeding and watching the birds around her home as well. Elizabeth was a true care giver, as she offered her time taking care of her neighbor, Arlene, for over ten years. She will be deeply missed by her friends and family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Lisa Marie Heinemann of Blakeslee and her son-in-law Robert Heinemann, Jessica Rachel Henning and her fiancé Carl Jaeger of Blakeslee; four brothers, James Schropp of Mahanoy City, John Schropp of Shenandoah, Clement Schropp of Mahanoy City, Robert Schropp of Mahanoy City; two sisters, Madeline Reese of Freeland, Mary Snyder of Ashland; a granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Heinemann; two great grandsons, Kelly Robert Drugas and Cason Kenneth Drugas; and many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Schropp and Casmire Schropp.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 30 at 11:00 AM from the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209, Brodheadsville with Rev. Msgr. John G. Chizmar officiating. Burial will follow in Blakeslee Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 30 from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
