Obituary for Richard Leon Davis

Richard Leon Davis, 48, of McMichaels, passed away on Saturday, December 16 in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

He was the husband of the late Debra (Newhard) Davis.

Born in Pompton Plains, NJ, he was the son of June D. (Landauer) Butler and the late George M. Davis.

Richard had belonged to the Neola United Methodist Church.

He had owned and operated the B-Safe Fire Protection in Saylorsburg for many years.

He was a member of the Lions Club in Tannersville, and was also the past Master Counselor of the Ramapo Valley Chapter of DeMolay. In his younger years growing up in West Milford, NJ he was an all-star for the West Milford Little League and competed in the Little League World Series playoffs. He could always be found swimming, fishing, and playing hockey in the winter at the local ponds where he grew up. He was an avid Nascar fan. He loved sports, and his favorite teams consisted of the New Jersey Devils, Detroit Tigers, and Detroit Lions. When he was born, he was named after the former player of 1968 World Series Champions Detroit Tigers, Dick McAuliffe.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two daughters, Kaitlyn Davis of Saylorsburg, Nancy June Davis of McMichaels; a brother, Mark W. Davis of Morristown, NJ; a sister, Nancy A. Kuziola of Piscataway, NJ; his father-in-law, Howard Newhard and his step-father, Ray Butler.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 6 at 11:00 AM from the Neola United Methodist Church. A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 6 at 10:30 AM until the time of the service. Burial of the ashes will be scheduled on a late date at the convenience of the family in the First Reformed Church Cemetery, Pompton Plains, NJ.
