John F. Valinote Sr., 89, of Sciota, passed away on Thursday, December 7 in Abington Manor Memory Care, Easton.

He was the husband of the late Dorothy Rose (Helm) Valinote.

John was born in Brooklyn, NY and he had worked as a union iron worker in New York and New Jersey for over twenty years. Later, he and his wife owned and operated the Village Grocery in Sciota for five years. He also worked for his son's business, AAA Moving Co. for thirty years.

John was a WW II Navy veteran.

He is survived by a son, John Valinote Jr. of Sciota; two daughters, JoAnn Svensson and Joy Wallace, both of Sciota; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Graveside services with military honors will be held on Thursday, December 14 at 3:00 PM in Buena Vista Cemetery, Brodheadsville. Interment will follow.

The Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209 Brodheadsville, is in charge of arrangements.
