Debra A. Averett, 62, of Stroudsburg, died Wednesday, November 9 in Lehigh Valley Hospice, Allentown.

She was the wife of John Averett. They had observed their 40th wedding anniversary in June.

Born in Farmingdale, NY she was a daughter of the late Vincent and Verona (Barry) Staweck.

She was a member of Middlecreek Christian Church and served as the church secretary for four years but the most important thing in the world to her was being a nana to her two grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Britt Averett and her husband Erik Burger of Smithtown, NY, Jonathan Averett of Charlotte, NC and Megan Averett of Stroudsburg; a sister, Barbara MacDonough and her husband Cliff of Brodheadsville; two grandchildren, Maeve Elizabeth Burger and Kellan John Burger and three nieces and nephews, Ryan, Lauren and Kieran.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 12 from Middlecreek Christian Church with Rev. Steve Boothe officiating. Burial will be in Middlecreek Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Saturday from 9:30 AM until the time of the service from the church.

The Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209 Brodheadsville, is in charge of arrangements.
