John C. Valdes, 57, of Kunkletown died Monday, August 4 in the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg.

He was the husband of Kathleen (Mooney) Valdes. Together for over 20 years, they had observed their 3rd wedding anniversary in February.

Born in Cuba, he was a son of Martha (Ascencio) Licata of Gardiner, NY and the late Raphael Valdes.

John had been a carpet salesman for Giant Floor in Wilkes Barre for ten years.

He was of the Catholic faith. John was an avid dog lover.

In addition to his wife and mother, John is survived by two sisters, Sonia Rojas in NJ and Carrie in NY and a brother, George Valdes in NJ. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Martha Colella and Theresa Nilla.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, August 8 from the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209 Brodheadsville, with Rev. Michael Quinnan officiating. Interment will follow in Green Ridge Cemetery, McIlhaney. Cremation will have taken place in the H. G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg.
